Privacy
Version 2026-10-29. Homi Academy is operated by FASH SOLUTIONS LLC. Homi is a paper-first math program for children: students work through printed packets, photograph their finished pages for grading, and can use lessons and tutoring, while a parent or legal guardian manages the family account. This policy explains what information Homi collects from parents and children, how Homi uses and shares it, how long Homi keeps it, and the rights parents have. The parental privacy notice is the shorter notice a parent reads before giving consent.
Information Homi collects
From parents
- Parent account: your name, email address and the password you choose. Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth.
- Your child’s profile: your child’s first name and grade, which you enter to enroll them, and the username and password you choose for their sign-in.
- Delivery: your household’s shipping address and records of the packets Homi ships to it.
- Membership and payment: Stripe hosts checkout and the billing portal and collects your card details; Homi never receives full card numbers. Homi keeps Stripe’s customer, subscription, checkout and payment references, membership status and price, and whether the card used was a credit or debit card.
- Messages: what you send to Homi support.
- Consent: your consent record, described under “Parental consent” below.
From children, after a parent’s consent is verified
- Placement: answers to the online placement questions and the starting level they produce.
- Worksheet photos: photos of completed packet pages, the handwritten answers and working on them, the answers Homi reads from them, grades and feedback.
- Progress: assigned packets, when work sessions start and finish and how long they take, accuracy, lesson and practice progress, and completed tutoring reviews.
- Focus monitoring events: the kind of event (left the camera view, looked away, another person in view, an item such as a phone in hand, or talking), when it started and ended, and small technical details such as the detector’s confidence, the head angle, or the kind of item detected.
- Tutoring: the problem your child is working on, and your child’s answers and what they say to the tutor. During voice tutoring, your child’s voice is processed live.
Children can’t make information public or message other people in Homi. Worksheet photos should show only the worksheet; Homi doesn’t ask for photos of children.
Automatically
When anyone uses Homi, its hosting and database providers record technical information such as IP address, browser type, the pages and features requested, times and error details, and Homi uses cookies and similar browser storage to keep people signed in. Homi uses this only to run, secure and troubleshoot the service, not to contact anyone, build profiles of individuals or advertise. Homi doesn’t use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
Camera and microphone
- Worksheet scanning: your child photographs finished pages with the device camera. Those photos are uploaded to Homi for grading.
- Focus monitoring: during a packet work session, the camera and microphone are analyzed on the device to notice the events listed above. Monitoring doesn’t record, upload or save video, audio, images, face measurements or sound clips; only the event records are saved to your child’s account. Its detection models are served by Homi itself, and monitoring sends nothing to Google or any other outside service. The packet timer, and the step that finishes and scans a packet, start only once monitoring is running, so your child needs to allow camera and microphone access to complete a packet in Homi. Monitoring is automated and can be wrong, so its flags are shown to you to review.
- Voice tutoring: optional, and separate from monitoring. When your child starts it, microphone audio is streamed to ElevenLabs, which turns speech into text and the tutor’s replies into speech, and the conversation text and the current problem are sent to Anthropic to write the replies.
How Homi uses information
Homi uses information only to provide the service a parent enrolls their child in, and to run the business that provides it:
- grading worksheets, giving feedback and tutoring, and choosing the next packets;
- showing parents their children’s work, progress and monitoring flags;
- printing and shipping packets;
- managing memberships, payments and parental consent records;
- keeping accounts secure, answering support requests and fixing problems; and
- meeting legal obligations.
Homi doesn’t sell anyone’s information, show ads or use information for targeted advertising, or use children’s information to train AI models.
Who receives information
Homi shares information with these service providers, which run parts of Homi for it, and only what each one needs:
- Supabase: sign-in, the database, and private file storage for worksheet photos.
- Anthropic: reads worksheet photos to transcribe answers, and writes feedback and tutoring replies from the problem and your child’s answers or conversation.
- ElevenLabs: live speech processing, only when voice tutoring is used.
- Netlify and Render: host the Homi website and the voice tutoring service.
- Stripe: payments and the billing portal. Stripe receives the parent’s name and email, the card details, and the child’s first name, which appears on the membership. It doesn’t receive schoolwork.
- U.S. Postal Service: delivers printed packets to the household address you give.
Each provider handles information under its own terms with Homi. Where providers offer settings that limit what they keep, Homi uses them: Homi’s voice service is configured with ElevenLabs’ settings not to record conversations, to delete their audio and transcripts, and to retain them for zero days, and the voice service won’t start if those settings are off. Anthropic and the hosting providers can keep request logs for limited periods under their own policies.
One outside service also receives limited technical information directly from your child’s device. Lesson videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com): when your child plays a video, YouTube receives the device’s IP address and the video request, and can store information on the device, under Google’s policies.
Homi doesn’t disclose children’s information to anyone else, except where the law requires it. Homi would ask for a parent’s separate consent before sharing a child’s information with a third party for any other purpose.
Parental consent
When a parent enrolls a child, the child can’t sign in, take the placement test, submit work or use tutoring until the parent has given consent and Homi has verified it. First, the parent reads the parental privacy notice and checks this statement before checkout:
“I confirm that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child being enrolled. I agree to Homi Academy's Terms of Service, acknowledge the Privacy Policy, and consent to the collection and processing of my child's learning information as described in the parental privacy notice.”
Then the parent pays for the membership on Stripe Checkout with a credit or debit card in their name. Card issuers notify the card’s primary account holder of each transaction; a payment of this kind is one of the verification methods listed in the FTC’s COPPA Rule. Homi can’t see the name on the card and doesn’t check it, so verification rests on that notice to the account holder and on the parent’s confirmation in the checkbox. Before turning the child’s account on, Homi’s server confirms with Stripe that the payment was completed and charged to a credit or debit card, and that the checkout belongs to the same Homi parent account and child. Returning from the checkout page doesn’t count; Stripe’s confirmation does.
Prepaid cards, other payment methods and checkouts without a card charge can’t verify consent by payment. A promotion code can lower the amount charged; every paid membership, including a discounted one, is verified by its card payment. Creating a parent account doesn’t give consent either.
Homi’s free pilot membership has no card payment, so Homi staff verify those parents in person instead. After the parent has read the notice and checked the consent statement, a Homi staff member meets the parent, checks a government-issued photo ID, and confirms that the person is the parent or legal guardian on the child’s Homi account. Homi doesn’t record the ID number or keep an image of the ID. A Homi administrator then records the verification in Homi, with the time and a short note of where and when the check took place. Any other code that leaves nothing to charge can’t verify consent, so that child’s account stays paused.
Homi keeps a record of each consent: when it was given, verified or withdrawn, and the versions of the parental notice, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy the parent accepted. For a card payment, the record includes the Stripe checkout and payment references and whether the card was a credit or debit card; Homi never stores card numbers. For an in-person check, it includes the administrator who recorded it and the note. Consent covers only the collection and uses this policy describes.
How long Homi keeps information
Homi keeps children’s personal information only as long as it’s reasonably needed for the purposes below, and never indefinitely. Homi deletes information by hand: it reviews accounts at least once a month and deletes information that has reached the end of its retention period, so each time limit below is the latest point by which the information is deleted.
- Enrollment information before consent (your child’s first name and grade). Purpose: setting up enrollment and asking for your consent. If consent isn’t verified, Homi deletes it no later than 60 days after you added your child, even if a membership was paid. You can add your child again later.
- Your child’s account and learning records (sign-in, placement results, worksheet photos and the answers read from them, grades, feedback, progress, monitoring events and tutoring completions). Purpose: providing the service, showing you your child’s work and progress, and checking a questioned grade against the original page. Kept while your child’s membership is active and your child uses Homi. Homi deletes them no later than 6 months after the membership ends or you withdraw consent, or once your child hasn’t used Homi for 12 months, whichever comes first, unless you re-enroll your child before then. Photos replaced by a retake aren’t used, and are deleted on the same schedule.
- Voice tutoring conversations. Purpose: answering your child during the review. Homi’s voice service keeps the conversation only in temporary memory while the review runs and discards it when the review ends or expires; Homi saves only that the review was completed. ElevenLabs’ settings are described above.
- Parent account (your name, email, sign-in and household address). Purpose: managing your family, membership and requests. Kept while your account is open. When you ask Homi to close it, Homi deletes your name, email, sign-in and household address within 45 days of confirming the request; the records in the next item are kept. Closing your account doesn’t by itself delete your children’s information. Their accounts and learning records stay as they are, no longer linked to you. When you ask Homi to close your account, tell Homi for each child whether to delete the child’s information or move the child to another parent or guardian’s Homi account (see “Your rights and choices”). If Homi receives neither request, it deletes the child’s information no later than 6 months after your account is closed, unless another parent or guardian takes over the account before then.
- Billing, shipping, consent and transfer records (Stripe references, payment and membership history, your shipping address and shipment contents, which can include your child’s first name as it appeared on the membership and packet labels, consent records, and records of a child moved to another parent or guardian: when, between which accounts, and how the request was confirmed). Purpose: accounting, taxes, refunds, delivery problems, and showing that consent and transfers were authorized. Kept only as long as tax, accounting and other legal obligations require, and used only for those purposes, including after a parent account or a child’s information is deleted.
- Information held by Stripe. Stripe, Homi’s payment processor, keeps its own customer record (your name and email), the cards you saved, invoices, payment history and the membership description, which can include your child’s first name, under its own legal and financial obligations. Closing your Homi account or deleting your child’s information doesn’t delete these Stripe records, and Homi never deletes payment history. You can remove saved cards in Manage billing before you close your account.
- Support emails. Purpose: answering your request. Emails about a child are deleted along with the child’s information, except a record that the request was received and completed.
- Service logs. Purpose: running, securing and troubleshooting Homi. They contain technical details such as record identifiers and error messages, and Homi’s hosting and database providers keep them for the limited periods their services set.
- Backups. Purpose: recovering from a failure. If Homi’s database provider holds a backup made before a deletion, the deleted records remain in that backup until it expires on the provider’s backup schedule. Homi uses backups only to recover from a failure, and if it restores one, it deletes again anything that had already been deleted.
Homi keeps information longer only where the law requires it, for example to respond to legal process, and then only for that purpose.
Your rights and choices
- Review: your parent dashboard shows your child’s work, worksheet photos, results, monitoring flags and progress. You can also ask Homi to describe the information it holds about your child and to give you a copy.
- Correct: when Homi can’t read an answer confidently, you can mark it correct or incorrect yourself on the results page. Ask Homi to correct anything else that’s wrong.
- Delete your child’s information: ask Homi to delete it. Once Homi has confirmed the request comes from you, it stops your child’s account, deletes the information from its active systems within 45 days, and tells you when it’s done. Deleting one child’s information doesn’t affect your account or your other children. A membership for that child must be canceled first. Billing, shipping and consent records are kept as described above.
- Close your parent account: ask Homi to close it. Homi deletes your own account information as described above. It doesn’t delete your children’s information unless you ask, so tell Homi what to do for each child. Cancel every membership first; Homi can’t close an account that could still be charged.
- Move your child to another parent or guardian: ask Homi to transfer your child to another parent or legal guardian who has their own Homi account. Homi confirms the request with you before moving anything. Your child’s work, results and progress move with them; memberships and saved cards don’t, so cancel yours first and the other parent or guardian starts their own. Where consent is required, your child can’t use Homi again until the other parent or guardian’s consent is verified.
- Cancel a membership: use Manage billing in Plan & billing. Canceling stops future charges, and the membership runs to the end of the period already paid. It doesn’t delete any information or close your account: you can still sign in, see your child’s records, manage billing and subscribe again. Your child’s information is then kept and deleted as described above.
- Pause an account: Homi can pause (archive) your account or a child’s account at your request or to protect it. Nothing is deleted while an account is paused, no one can sign in to it, and Homi can restore it later. Homi won’t pause an account while a membership could still charge you, so cancel it first.
- Withdraw consent: use “Withdraw consent” in Plan & billing, or email Homi. The button blocks your child’s account right away; by email, Homi does it when it confirms your request. From then on, Homi collects nothing more from your child, although a voice tutoring conversation already underway runs until its session ends. You can still see your child’s records, which are then kept as described above unless you also ask for deletion. To stop future charges, cancel the membership in Manage billing.
- Refusing further collection: Homi can’t provide its service without the information it uses to grade and track work, so withdrawing consent or asking for deletion ends your child’s use of Homi.
- Camera and microphone: you control these in browser and device settings. Without them your child can’t run focus monitoring or complete a packet in Homi, and voice tutoring needs the microphone. Your child can end a voice tutoring session at any time.
Send requests to support@homiacademy.com from your parent account’s email address and say what you’re asking for. Before sharing or deleting anything, Homi confirms the request by replying to the email address on your parent account. Don’t send identity documents or your child’s schoolwork in a first email. Signing out, removing the app or canceling a membership doesn’t delete information; ask Homi to.
Security
Database access rules limit a child’s records to the child, the child’s linked parent and authorized Homi administrators. Worksheet photos are kept in private storage and opened through links that expire after a few minutes. Payments are made on Stripe’s own checkout and billing pages. No system is perfectly secure; if you think someone has accessed an account without permission, contact Homi right away. Keep passwords private, and use password recovery if you need to.
Changes to this policy
The version date at the top changes whenever this policy changes. If a change affects how Homi collects, uses or shares children’s information, Homi will tell parents before it takes effect and ask for consent again where that’s required.
